Pet Symposium, hosted by 4-H Saturday, October 10, 10:00am-3:00pm We've been delighted to connect with so many new friends on Twitter! One of our favorite people to "follow" is Rachel Surls, @RachelSurls, who works for the Los Angeles County Cooperative Extension, and told us about this event. The perfect destination for animal lovers this weekend! "The 4-H Pet Symposium is a FREE event that will provide Los Angeles County youth, ages 5 and up, with an opportunity to learn about responsible pet care, along with community service opportunities and careers related to pets. ...cats, dogs, chickens, bees, miniature potbellied pigs, rabbits, rats, turtles, hamsters and many other delightful pets. Among the many speakers on-hand will be Los Angeles County Animal Care & Control, the UC Davis Department of Veterinary Medicine, Guide Dogs of America and the Los Angeles Bee Keepers Association will be selling fresh honey. Youth do not need to be 4-H members to attend. The event is open to all." ![]() Where the Wild Things Are: Family Day at the Skirball Sunday, October 11, Drop in anytime 10:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. "Stop by our daylong celebration of Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book and get excited for the October 17 release of Warner Bros.' feature-film adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are. Create your own "wild thing" using repurposed materials, groove to lively jam sessions, hear readings of the classic tale, and see illustrations and props from the upcoming film." Join our CNI educator for the first TOT walks of the Fall Season! You and your Tyke will take a fun filled hike looking for all of the signs of autumn. We'll collect fallen leaves, listen for the wind in the trees and explore the so much more! Tykes will enjoy hands-on activities and a story along the way.
