On Trick Or Treating In Los Angeles
An LA Native Weighs in With Tips & Advice by Carrie Robertson ![]() I’d like to propose that, in Los Angeles, Halloween is the most important community event of the year. In our neighborhood, it’s the one night each year when almost all of the neighbors are out on the street, walking and talking to each other. And it's not a bit spooky. Here are some thoughts on getting great loot! Choose the Right Neighborhood A short door to door distance is essential to maximize the per hour candy collection rate. This is where it might NOT be better to be in a neighborhood with big houses…more walking=less candy. Follow the Rules You remember, right? Don’t start too early and don’t stay out too late. Only go to houses with decorations and a light on. Only take one piece of candy unless they offer you more. And always say thank you. But you already knew these, didn’t you? Do a Little House Hunting Try visiting the neighborhood where you’d like to live. Whether it’s where you grew up, where you fantasize about living, or where you’re shopping for your starter home, it's sure to be a treat. Just remember, neighborhoods can change dramatically from one street to the next in Los Angeles, so trust your gut and don’t stay out too late! I’ll trade you two boxes of raisins for your 5th Avenue bar… Have a wonderful week full of happy Mommy-memories! |
